Commemoration of 2026 World No Tobacco Day & National No Smoking Month calls for decisive action to protect children and youth

As we commemorate the World No Tobacco Day on May 31 and National No Smoking Month in June, PLCPD urges lawmakers for decisive legislative action that will protect Filipinos, especially children and youth, from the harms of tobacco products and electronic smoking devices.
We call for the enactment of laws that will:
- protect the health of the public from cigarette smoke and vape aerosol in all public spaces and workplaces, especially in places frequented by children, by creating 100% smoke-free and vape-free public places,
- strengthen the regulation of electronic smoking devices, including vapes and heated tobacco products, and
- increase taxes on cigarettes and electronic smoking devices and address illicit tobacco trade.
