Community, advocates collaborate for storytelling activity to protect children against the tobacco industry
Over a hundred children and their families from Brgy. 105, Tondo, Manila participated in a storytelling session in commemoration of the 2024 World No Tobacco Day and National No Smoking Month. The event was organized by Social Watch Philippines, the Philippine Smoke-Free Movement, Aktibong Kilusan Tungo sa Iisang Bayan, and Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids Philippines, PLCPD, the Child Rights Network, and the local government unit of Brgy. 105 led by Chairperson Lenny Reyes.
The highlight of the session was a stage play, “Si Pamela at ang Usok ng Kalye-Pag-asa,” performed by the ANAK TEATRO group from Brgy. Culiat, Quezon City, aimed at raising awareness and protecting children from the harms of smoking and vaping.
During the event, PLCPD and CRN highlighted the importance of prioritizing children in tobacco control policies and initiatives and the need to protect children from the harms of tobacco products and electronic smoking devices, as well as from the deception and manipulation of the tobacco industry.
